Where is Green Turtle Cay? (pronounced “key”)
Where is Shore Leave Cottage?
How do we get to Green Turtle Cay from the US?
There are two airports nearby - Marsh Harbor (airport code MHH) and Treasure Cay (TCB). Both have regular scheduled service from Florida. TCB is close by but mostly serves charter flights since Dorian. MHH is about 40 minutes by taxi which runs around $95 plus tip. Once you get to your airport on Abaco, you will need to clear customs, and take a taxi to the ferry for the quick run across the Sea of Abaco to GTC. The ferry will take you directly to the cottage. Our property management company has a page on travel to the islands that is an excellent source for travel to GTC.
How is the cottage fitted out?
The cottage is a studio with a galley kitchen and a king sized Murphy (wall) bed, a pantry, and a closet. The bathroom has a single sink and a storage vanity. The shower and dressing area is in a separate room which is accessible from the bathroom or the outside deck.
Around the side is a shop room with a washer and dryer. A large screened porch wraps around two sides of the house. A wooden path takes you from the porch to the screened gazebo and swim platform and ladder down to the Sea of Abaco.
The pier (dock) is about 70 feet long. Current water depth is about 4 feet at mean low. A White Sound mooring can be rented for your deep draft boat - inquire in advance. There is a small boat ramp at the cottage suitable for pulling up a kayak or inflatable. Cruising boats often anchor off in front of New Plymouth, Coco Bay, or in the Sea of Abaco just off the cottage. The holding ground is good and it’s minutes from SLC.
